DDA celebrates Hindi fortnight

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 14. Cash prizes amounting to a total of about Rs 1.90 lakhs were given away by the Delhi Development Authority during the Hindi Pakhwara celebration which saw a number of events aimed at giving an impetus to the use of Hindi and encouragement for excellence in the language.

While a total of about Rs 1.23 lakhs was distributed among 22 students who had excelled in Hindi at the Senior Secondary and Masters level from Delhi University, the Authority also gave cash prizes to its employees for exemplary work in Hindi in the form of good noting and drafting.

Of the prizes given away to students, eight were in the order of merit for MA in Hindi, 11 for the CBSE Class XII students and three for children of DDA employees. Besides, 23 prizes were also given away to DDA employees.

Claiming that it has been organising a number of events for providing impetus to the use of Hindi within the office and also for promoting excellence in the language at school and college level, DDA said during the last year 52 inspections were carried out to check use of Hindi in the offices, and nine workshops were organised and 180 employees were trained on use of Hindi in official working. Besides, training in typing in Hindi was also imparted to some employees.
