BHOPAL, SEPT. 14. The opposition Congress Party has launched a frontal offensive against the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Government in Madhya Pradesh over a recent police firing in which three villagers, including a Border Security Force jawan, were killed at Ambah and Porsa in Morena district. The State Congress leaders were present in full strength at Morena yesterday to protest against the killing of the three persons. The party general secretary and former State Chief Minister, Digvijay Singh, the popular MP from Guna, Jyotiraditya Scindia, and the MPCC president, Subhash Yadav, along with other State party leaders and MLAs joined a huge demonstration at Morena and submitted a memorandum addressed to the State Governor and courted arrest. Shortly thereafter, they were released after completion of formalities. Mr. Digvijay Singh joined the other Congress leaders in demanding a CBI probe into the police firing in which three persons, Sobaran Singh, Devi Singh and Tam Singh, were killed. Mr. Scindia issued a firm warning to the State Government saying that such barbaric acts would not be tolerated. He also announced that he would even be prepared to go to jail to protect the citizens' right to life. The MPCC Chief, Subhash Yadav, said that the law and order situation had worsened in the State. He also alleged that the BJP led State Government was being soft towards the anti-social elements.
