Lop-sided wins for Delhi Public, Holy Heart

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 14. Shashwat and Sahu led the scoring in Delhi Public School's 23-0 mauling of Government Boys Middle School (Kupwara) in the Subroto Cup sub-junior football tournament at the Ambedkar stadium here on Tuesday.

Shashwat top-scored with six goals while Sahu, who broke through in the very first minute of the game, had five goals to his credit.

Later, Holy Heart School (Aizwal) followed the Delhi school's example in beating J.N. Petit School (Pune) 16-1. Alex, David and Lalrinmawia scored four goals each. Llandla (twice), Lalnilndlka and Vallalhriata were the other scorers. For the Pune school, Swapnil Mane scored the consolation goal in the 52nd minute.

In other action, Army Boys (Shillong) defeated St. Xavier Higher Secondary School (Chhattisgarh) 9-1. S. Singh (6th and 47th minutes), R. Singh (14th and 45th), Somen Singh (39th and 60th), Bobo Singh (41st and 50th) and Zonas Anal (19th) were the scorers. Mangal Say was the scorer for Chhattisgarh school.

In a junior league match, G.V. Raja Sports School (Thiruvananthapuram) edged past Rymbal Pohskur Secondary School (Meghalaya) 1-0, with Justine Stephen netting the ball in the 22nd minute.
