NIZAMABAD, SEPT. 14. Ayacutdars of B-Zone under the Pocharam medium irrigation project and residents of Yellareddy and surrounding villages today appealed to the district Collector, D.V. Raidu, to direct the authorities to check tampering with water released from the project by A-Zone farmers. As per rules farmers of A-Zone located in Nagireddypet mandal were not supposed to utilise the Pocharam project water until the Peddacheruvu on the outskirts of Yellareddy town was fully filled, they contended. They said the Peddacheruvu would not be filled with farmers in upper reaches tampering with water compounding drinking water problem in Yellareddy mandal. They were afraid that the standing crops would dry up. In all 250 cuses of water is being released from the project for three days now to fill the Peddacheruvu.
