South Zone takes lead

ANANTAPUR, SEPT. 14. South Zone took a vital lead of 101 runs in the first innings over Central Zone on the second day of the four-day Andhra inter-zonal Ranji team selection cricket match here on Tuesday.

Resuming at the overnight score of 111 runs for 5 South went on to make 245 in 82.2 overs.

A patient knock of 72 by Samir Ali Khan helped South to take first innings lead.

For Central Kalyan Krishna claimed 4 wickets for 62 runs and Sarswath Reddy took 3 for 52.

The scores:

Central Zone (first innings): 144 (M.S.K. Prasad 37; Shahbuddin five for 33, Fayak three for 33.

South zone (first innings): 245 (Samir Ali Khan 72; Kalyan Krishna four for 62, Saraswath Reddy three for 52.
