SAAP incentives for weightlifting squad

HYDERABAD, SEPT. 14. Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh has sanctioned Rs 3.95 lakh in cash incentives to the State weightlifting squad, including the coach, for their creditable performance of winning 11 gold, 14 silver and 16 bronze medals in the Sub-junior and the Junior Nationals in Mumbai last week, according to Ms. Sumita Dawra, vice-chairperson and managing director of SAAP.

The coach will get Rs.10,000 and the State Association Rs.50,000 for winning the team championship and the individual weightlifters Rs.10,000 for gold, Rs.7,500 for silver and Rs.5,000 for bronze medallists.

B. Prameela Valli and B. Raj Kumar were adjudged `best weightlifters' in girls' and boys' sections among sub-juniors and K. Kalyani in the junior girls category at the Mumbai Nationals.

Junior girls: 48kg: M.D.L. Madhavi (1 gold, 1 silver). 53kg: K. Kalyani (2 gold, 1 silver). 58kg: K. Nirmala (3 bronze). 63kg: B. Prameelavalli (three silver). 75kg: P. Lakshmi (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze). 75kg: P. Spandana (2 gold, 1 silver). K. Tulasi (2 silver, 1 bronze).

62kg: K. Ravi (2 gold, 1 silver). 69kg: G. Nagaraju (2 silver). 69kg: M. Ch. Srinivas (bronze). 77kg: B. Raj Kumar (1 gold, 1 silver). 105kg+: Ch. Kali Vali Prasad (1 silver, 1 bronze).
