AP `A' retains title

CHENNAI, SEPT. 14. AG Andhra Pradesh `A' retained the title defeating AG Tamil Nadu `A' 2-1 in the final (team event) of the South Zone Indian Audit and Accounts Department carrom tournament at AG's Office on Tuesday.

In the men's singles, A. Mahesh Devaraj (AG, TN), D. Ravinder Goud, V. Anil Kumar and R.D. Dinesh Babu (all from AG, AP) reached the semifinals.

AG AP `A' bt AG TN `A' 2-1 (R. Dinesh Babu bt G.S. Rajan 25-2, 25-6; D. Ravinder Goud lost to Mahesh Devaraj 4-25, 9-25; V. Anil Kumar bt K. Raja 7-20, 14-10, 25-12).

Women (semifinals):

D. Swarnalatha (AG, AP) bt Saradamba (AG, Kar) 25-0, 25-0; M.S. Radha (AG, TN) bt R. Sharmila (AG, TN) 25-7, 25-24.
