Two commit suicide

MANGALORE, SEPT. 14. Two persons allegedly committed suicide in the district in the last 24 hours. The police said Jaya Shetty (34), who was running a pan shop in Gujarat, allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poison at Darregudde Bus Station in Moodbidri Police Station limits. Losses in business was said to be the reason.

Geetha (20), daughter of Ramanna Gowda of Kodenkere Mane in Kumbaru in Kadaba Police Station limits in Puttur taluk allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison. The reason for the suicide is not known. The police are investigating.

Injured

One woman was injured when a scooterist knocked her down in Urwa Police Station limits on Monday. The police said the victim, Basamma, wife of Mahantesh, was walking with her husband on their way to a store, when a scooter hit her. Basamma was injured on the head and hand. The police are investigating.

House burgled

Burglars gained entry into a house in Belthangady Police Station limits and took away cash and jewellery worth Rs. 1.15 lakhs. The police have taken up a case.
