CHENNAI, SEPT. 14. The sky will be partly cloudy on Wednesday with a shower or thundershower in some areas. On Tuesday, Nungambakkam recorded a maximum temperature of 36.1 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 27 degrees Celsius while Meenambakkam recorded 36.2 and 26.5 degrees Celsius.

Humidity at Nungambakkam was 79 per cent and at Meenambakkam, 92 per cent. Meenambakkam also had 7.8 mm rainfall.

Power cut

Power supply will be suspended in Kennet Lane and part of Pantheon Road in Egmore areas between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Thursday due to maintenance works.

Hindi classes

Admission for six-month Hindi classes from Parichaya to Praveen of the Hindi Prachar Sabha will begin from September 15 at Mirra's Hindi, 11th Cross Street, Poompuhar Nagar, Kolathur. For details, contact Hema Ramesh: 25501353.

Training programme

About 100 students of the Road Safety Patrol unit of the P.S. Higher Secondary School at Mylapore, took part in a day-long training programme in First Aid conducted by the St. John's Ambulance.

The programme also gave details on actions to be taken in the event of an accident or a sudden illness.

Blood donation

A total of 107 students of the M.O.P. Vaishnav College donated blood during a camp organised by the Indian Red Cross Society on the college premises.

Celebrations

More than 1,000 teachers from various city schools took part in the Teachers' Day celebrations organised by the BSC Jain Vidyalaya in association with the Lions Club International. Shakuntala Sharma was honoured with the Jambhavan Award on the occasion.
