Patil briefed on Kashmir

NEW DELHI, SEPT. 14. A high-level meeting on Jammu and Kashmir today briefed the Home Minister, Shivraj Patil.

Asked whether the third round of talks with the Huriyat came up at the meeting, sources said the matter was touched upon briefly.

Briefing reporters later, Mr Jaiswal said the meeting had been called earlier to discuss the details of the now postponed visits of the Prime Minister and the Home Minister to the State.

Now that the visits have been cancelled because of the impending elections in Maharashtra and other States, the meeting was still called to review the situation and discuss the possible new dates for the visits. Discussions also centred on the ongoing composite dialogue with Pakistan.— UNI
