A partly cloudy sky, with thunderclouds in the afternoon or evening, has been the forecast for Wednesday. The city, on Tuesday recorded a maximum temperature of 32.8 degree Celsius and a minimum of 21.2 degree Celsius. The relative humidity was 57 per cent.

Book released

The Chief Minister, Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Tuesday released a book, `Rajasekharuni Vijaya Nirajanam' written by T.D. Prasad, Editor, Udayam.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Reddy said sustained efforts were necessary to achieve success in any endeavour.

The Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah, and Y. Lakshmiprasad, former MP, spoke. M. Buddhaprasad, MLA, P. Venkateswara Rao, former Chairman, State Press Academy, were present.

Workshop held

A two-day workshop on `Open and distance learning' commenced at Maulana Azad National Urdu University here on Tuesday. H.P. Dikshit, Vice-Chancellor, Indira Gandhi National Open University, who inaugurated the workshop, said open and distance learning had created a niche all over the world and India had become a harbinger of this revolution.

The College Planning and Development Council of various Government Colleges (degree) in the twin cities are filling existing vacancies in various subjects by contract faculty.

Candidates with the requisite qualification may apply before September 20. Interviews will be held on September 23, according to A. Sreelakshmi, principal, Government College for Women, Begumpet.
