HYDERABAD, SEPT.14. The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Tuesday cautioned the State police to be vigilant and instructed them to concentrate on sensitive areas for the ensuing Ganesh immersion on September 27.
Directive to cops
Reviewing the arrangements with senior officials, Mr. Reddy directed the police to deploy adequate number of personnel in vulnerable and sensitive areas of the twin cities. Every effort should be made to control anti-social elements and to ensure peace on that day, he said. The Chief Minister further directed the police to draft Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) along with the State Special Police (APSP) and Rapid Action Force (RAF). He also reviewed arrangements like drinking water facility and street lighting for the public participating in the procession and deployment of sufficient number of cranes around Hussainsagar and other lakes in the city. Officials informed Mr. Reddy about the steps taken by their respective departments. The meeting was attended by Home Minister, K. Jana Reddy, the Minister for Information and Public Relations, Shabbir Ali, the Chief Secretary, Mohan Kanda, the Director-General of Police, S.R. Sukumara, the Hyderabad Police Commissioner, R.P. Singh, the MCH Commissioner, Chitra Ramachandran and the Ranga Reddy district Collector, L. Premchandra Reddy, according to an official press release.
