Weather

Gannavaram airport recorded a maximum temperature of 35.7 degree Celsius and minimum of 25.5 degree Celsius on Tuesday. Humidity, which was recorded at 79 per cent in the morning dropped to 63 per cent in the evening.

Commodity prices

Following were the prices (in rupees per kg) of essential commodities in the local wholesale market on Tuesday: Groundnut oil - 55.50, palmolein oil - 46.50 sunflower oil - 55, tamarind (flower variety) - 43 to 48, tamarind (karipuli variety) - 53 to 57, chillis (refrigerated) - 24 to 28, chillis - 14 to 18, rice (2716) - 13, rice superfine (samba masoori) 14 to 15, rice sona masoori - 15 to 16, black gram (pottu minapappu) - 19 to 22, red gram (kandipappu) - 31 to 35.

Power shutdown

Power will be shut down in areas that fall under the Muthyalampadu section of the power distribution operation circle from 8 am to 10 am on Wednesday. The affected areas are Satyanarayanapuram, Nageswararao Pantulu Road, Vyakaranamvari st., Purushottamvari st., B.P.street, Sivarao st., Sivalayam st., Vandapuvari st., Baburaomeda Centre, Kommuvari st., Tadankivari st., Abburivari st. and School st.

VTPS school kids excel

Students of D.A.V. Public School, VTPS, Ibrahimpatnam, have won laurels for their school at the Mahatma Hansraj Aryan Tournament of D.A.V.South Zone in Visakhapatnam. The VTPS school children won gold medals in junior boys and girls khokho, junior boys shuttle, senior students chess and in the group song contest. Some students won medals in athletic events too. The school stood third in the overall medal tally, according to principal, C.V.Sankar. Nearly 500 children from nine D.A.V. schools participated.

Relay fast

Members of the Andhra Pradesh Anganvadi Workers & Helpers Union district unit launched a relay fast in front of the sub-collectors' office to focus the long pending demands of Anganvadi workers and helpers. The charter of demands includes additional payment for additional work, cancellation of G.O.20 and immediate payment of salary arrears.
