HYDERABAD, SEPT. 14. Two top cops of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were reportedly held guilty in connection with the charge of sexual harassment levelled by an Assistant Commandant, G. Swarnalatha. The Complaints Committee constituted by the CRPF as per the directions of the National Commission for Women in its report had stated that the allegations were true and proved beyond doubt, sources said.
The allegation
An AC of CRPF Hakimpet (of Ranga Reddy district) Group Centre, Swarnalatha, was drafted for CRPF anniversary parade to be held in Delhi and was kept as reserve commander of woman contingent in 2003. Thereafter, she was supposed to participate in the Republic Day parade and the DG's farewell parade. On April 26, 2004, Swarnalata submitted a petition to the CRPF Director-General alleging that during her stay in Delhi from November 2003 to January 2004 she was sexually harassed by one of the parade in-charge officers. The Complaints Committee, comprising Suman Bala, R. Aparajitha, Poonam Gupta and Prem Soni, submitted the report to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on August 17.
