Draft voters' list to be published today

KOCHI, SEPT. 14. The draft voters' list for the district with the photographs of voters will be published on Wednesday.

The list will be available for scrutiny at the taluk and village offices as well as the post offices in the district, the District Collector, A.P.M. Mohammed Hanish, said. He was addressing a meeting of leaders of major political parties regarding the voters' list at the Collectorate on Tuesday.

The complaints on the list will be received till October 15, 2004. The final list will be published on January 3, 2005, after completing the corrections before December 1, 2004. Special desks will be opened at the taluk offices. Each national political party and State party will be given one copy each of the list.

The Collector said the photographs of some voters missing from the list would be added by the computer operators at the taluk offices. Ration cards will not be accepted as proof of date of birth for those who are above 20 years of age. Other proofs like driving licence or passport will be required.
