Madurai
By Our Staff Reporter
MADURAI, SEPT. 14. The Puthiya Tamizhagam leader, K. Krishnasamy, has filed a petition before the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court to transfer a murder case pending against him before the Additional Sessions Judge-cum-Fast Track Court-I, Tuticorin, to any other court outside the district. Dr. Krishnasamy said though the arguments were completed a year ago, the judgment had not been pronounced till date. Justice M. Thanikachalam directed the registry to call for remarks from the lower court judge and ordered that the report should reach the Bench on or before September 17. The matter was posted for September 20. Earlier, appearing for the petitioner, G.R. Edmund, counsel, said the case was originally heard by the Additional Sessions-cum-Chief Judicial Magistrate, Tuticorin and then transferred to the Principal Sessions Judge, Tuticorin, and again transferred to the FTC-I. ``The arguments were completed in the fast track court a year ago and written arguments of both sides were filed on August 18, 2003. From that date more than 34 adjournments have been made for pronouncing the judgment.'' Dr. Krishnasamy prayed for a transfer of the case to any district other than Tirunelveli and Tuticorin, as there was a murder threat for him in these districts. He referred to a murder attempt on him while returning from a court in Tirunelveli, in another case, on July 26.
