`Jagratha samithis' in panchayats planned

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 14. Model `jagratha samithis' or vigilance wings would be set up in all panchayats for ensuring speedy justice to women, the State Women's Commission (SWC), chairperson, M. Kamalam, has said.

She was inaugurating a workshop organised here today by the Commission and SDC -Capdeck (Capacity Development for Decentralisation in Kerala) to prepare an action plan for setting up model jagratha samithis in selected panchayats in four districts.

Capdeck had submitted certain guidelines for the formation of the samithis, which were discussed at the workshop.

The selected panchayats where these would be set up are Madavoor (Thiruvananthapuram), Varappetti (Ernakulam), Mukkam (Kozhikode) and Meenangadi (Wayanad).
