THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 14. A 55-year-old man who was found guilty of the murder of Surendran (49) of Palode was sentenced to rigorous imprisonment for life and a fine of Rs. 25,000 by the Additional Sessions Judge, K. Sasidharan Nair here today. The person who was convicted was identified as Kochumani alias Thankappan of Palode. The prosecution has cited previous enmity as the motive for the murder. The crime occurred on May 8, 2000. The victim, Surendran, had died of stab injuries. In the event of default of the fine, the court ordered that the accused to undergo a further two year period of rigorous imprisonment. The case was investigated by the then Circle Inspector (Palode), K. Sreekumaran Nair.
