BANGALORE, SEPT. 14. A woman and her daughter-in-law on Tuesday caught a youth who entered their house in Koramangala police station limits and allegedly tried to rob them of gold ornaments. The police said Shakuntala (57) and her daughter-in-law, Usha (26), threw chilly powder at the youth, bound his hands and legs with a rope, and handed him over to the police. The two woman suffered minor injuries in the scuffle with the youth, whose name was given as Bandhu (19), from Orissa. The police said Bandhu, posing as a salesman, entered Shakuntala's house in Doddakannahalli around noon. He threatened the women with a knife and asked them to hand over their gold ornaments, the police said. Shakuntala returned with gold ornaments. While handing over them to Bandhu, she threw chilly powder at him. She and Usha overpowered him and bound him in ropes. They alerted the Koramangala police, who rushed to Shakuntala's house and arrested Bandhu.
