This Day That Age
Energetic measures are being taken by the Sri Gomateswara Research Committee for the renovation of the 57-ft. high statue of Gomateswara at Sravanabelagola (Mysore State), the chief seat of the Jain community in India. Prior to the Mahamastakabhisheka ceremonies held in March this year (this unique function is held once in twelve years, when members of the Jain community from all over India flock to Sravanabelagola), the cracks found on the crown and the face of the Gomateswara statue were cleaned and the whole statue was given a coating of water-repellent solution.
