Pro-hunters stage protest

LONDON: Thousands of pro-hunt campaigners gathered outside Parliament on Wednesday as MPs started debating a controversial bill to ban fox-hunting. In the Commons, the Leader of the Opposition, Michael Howard, taunted Mr. Blair saying he was trying to push through a contentious legislation while the Government's priority should be improving law and order and the public services. A ban on fox-hunting was promised by Mr. Blair in his 1997 election manifesto but his Government's attempts to legislate have been frustrated by the House of Lords.
