Court to be moved against bus fare hike

By Our Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM, SEPT. 15. The Centre for Consumer Education (CCE), a non-governmental organisation focussing on consumer rights issues in the transportation sector, has decided to approach court against the hike in bus fare announced by the State Government on Wednesday

The decision is contempt of court and contempt of the Assembly, Dejo Kappan, managing trusty of the CCE, said here today.

According to him, it has violated the law passed by the Assembly that a fair hike should be effected only on the basis of the returns being filed by bus operators every three months. The CCE had filed a case against the Antony Government for violating the same earlier. The case was now pending before the High Court, he said.
