CHANDIGARH, SEPT.15 .The Haryana Board of School Education has declared academic year 2004-05 as Education-Examination Improvement Year. The Board Chairman,O.P.Chaudhry, said here today that the Education-Examination Improvement Programme would be comprehensive and intensive under which State level meetings and workshops would be organised and special inspection committees would regularly inspect the schools. He hoped that these programmes would go a long way in bringing out qualitative improvement in education in the State. Brigadier Chaudhry said that academic year 2003-04 was celebrated as Copying Eradication Year during which the Board got unprecedented success in conducting annual and supplementary examinations. He claimed that outside interference and mass copying had been eliminated and stray incidents of individual copying were on the verge of elimination. He disclosed that during annual examinations-2003 the number of cases of unfair means were 10,703 whereas the number had declined to 8,296 this year. Likewise the number of cases of unfair means in supplementary examinations-2003 had been 2,008 which were reduced to 702 cases this year. He said that he would be touring schools in all the 19 districts and 47 sub-divisions of the State to motivate both teachers and students.
