BSP promises separate Vidarbha in manifesto

By Meena Menon

MUMBAI, SEPT. 15. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader, Mayawati, today promised a separate State of Vidarbha to be named after Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar if it came to power in the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

Ms. Mayawati told a press conference here that the party would contest all the 288 Assembly seats on its own. Caste equations would be the key factor in choosing candidates for the elections, Ms. Mayawati said, while releasing the manifesto.
