BANGALORE, SEPT. 15. The Special Judge of the 36th Additional City Civil and Sessions Court (special court), A.S. Pachhapure, took charge today. The court has been constituted by the Karnataka Government on the directions of the Supreme Court to try the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, and four others in two disproportionate assets cases. Mr. Pachhapure was the Registrar (Vigilance) of the Karnataka High Court before taking charge as the Special Judge. Highly placed sources told The Hindu today that the trial would start once the records were translated from Tamil to English. The sources said a Government Order would be issued soon appointing M.V. Devaraj as the Special Public Prosecutor for the cases. The name of Mr. Devaraj has been cleared by the Karnataka Chief Minister, N. Dharam Singh, after the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court, N.K. Jain, gave his consent.
