Panel favours regulation of programmes in four colleges

CHENNAI, SEPT. 15. A committee nominated by the Government has favoured regulation of academic programmes in four engineering colleges in Tirunelveli and Kanyakumari districts, and to consider the transfer requests of students in these colleges after the November-December semester examinations.

According to an Anna University release today, a team nominated by the All-India Council for Technical Education, Anna University and the Directorate of Technical Education visited the Raja Engineering College, Vadakkangulam; Jayamatha Engineering College, Aralvaimozhi; Joe Suresh Engineering College and Sardar Raja College of Engineering at Adaikkala Patanam on September 13 and 14.

Based on its report, the Joint Standing Committee constituted by the Government also recommended to the university to regulate the attendance problem of students in these colleges. Two representatives of the Government and the university must visit the colleges frequently and regulate their academic functioning, it recommended.
