HYDERABAD, SEPT. 15. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has assigned its leaders the task of hoisting the national flag in various Telangana districts to commemorate the Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 if the State Government failed to organise the programme officially. The former Union Minister of State, B. Dattatreya, told a news conference here on Wednesday that he and the State BJP president, N. Indrasena Reddy, would unfurl the tricolour at Parade grounds in Secunderabad. Another former Union Minister of State, Ch. Vidyasagar Rao, and the BJP MLA, G. Kishan Reddy, would participate in the programme. Others assigned the job were S.V. Seshagiri Rao, B. Bal Reddy and G. Ramakrishna Reddy, State vice-presidents (Karimnagar, Medak and Adilabad respectively), K. Laxman, general secretary (Nizamabad), C. Janga Reddy and A.P. Jitender Reddy (Warangal and Mahabubnagar respectively), G.R. Karunakar, State secretary (Nalgonda) and M. Dharma Rao, ex-MLA (Khammam). The programme would be held at police grounds in all the districts.
No response
Mr. Dattatreya said there was no response from the State Government to the BJP's plea for official celebrations despite representations to the Chief Minister and the Governor. If the Government continued to be indifferent, the BJP would go ahead with its celebrations while showing due respect to the national flag code.
