AVPS enters final

KOCHI, SEPT. 15. Host Assisi Vidyaniketan Public School (AVPS) marched into the under-16 and under-10 girls' final of the Archbishop Joseph Attipetty memorial inter-school badminton tournament, which began at Chembumukku on Wednesday.

Assisi defeated Jama-Ath (Padamugal) 2-1 in the under-16 girls' semifinal and Girinagar Bhavan's Vidya Mandir by an identical margin in the under-10 category. Fr Varghese Valiaparambil, Director of Vidyaniketan institutions, inaugurated the two-day event.

The results: Under-16 boys (quarterfinal): Assisi Vidyaniketan, Chembumukku bt BVM, Eroor 2-0. Under-16 girls (semifinal): Assisi Vidyaniketan bt Jama-Ath, Padamugal 2-1. Under-10 girls (semifinal): Assisi Vidyaniketan bt BVM, Girinagar 2-1. — Our Principal Correspondent
