Pro-Congress teachers' bodies form new forum

By Our Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 15. A united forum has been formed by three organisations of teachers owing allegiance to the Congress

The new entity, named the All Kerala Teachers' Congress (AKTC), has the Government School Teachers' Union, the Kerala Aided Primary Teachers' Union and the Private School Teachers' Association, as its constituents.

The announcement to this effect was made here today by the State level functionaries of the three organisations, which were committed to the values of nationalism, democracy and secularism, according to them.

The AKTC aimed at attaining all-round progress in the field of general education, improving academic quality and ensuring social justice, said S.V. Wahid, chairman, D.A. Hariharan, convener and P. Radhakrishnan, treasurer.

Highlighting the demands of the teaching community, the AKTC would be organising a dharna in front of the State secretariat on October 9.
