HYDERABAD, SEPT.15. The Telugu Desam Party may face problems from a section of its own partymen if the former Minister, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, is fielded for the byelection from the Asifnagar Assembly constituency, slated for next month.
Protest lodged
Following reports that the party leadership had veered towards finalising the candidature of Mr. Yadav, the Telugu Yuvatha leader, Arvind Kumar Goud, who is an aspirant, met Mr. Naidu along with his supporters on Tuesday and lodged a protest. Mr. Naidu sought to assure Mr. Goud that the candidature was yet to be finalised and a decision would be taken in a couple of days. In the backdrop of the strong resentment among the leaders of the constituency on fielding Mr. Yadav, Mr. Naidu held one-on-one discussions on Wednesday with senior TDP leaders.Mr. Goud and his followers are credited with the view that the party would find the going tough if Mr. Yadav is fielded with people of the constituency looking upon him as a "non-local". Meanwhile the leadership is likely to take a decision on Thursday after Mr. Naidu holds discussions with the aspirants.
