Letters to the Editor
Sir, This refers to the editorial "Play with semantics" (Sept. 15). No one is naive enough to be taken in by the sugar-coated terms such as Bharatiyata and `cultural nationalism' coined by the BJP from time to time. Where the BJP's heart lies is an open secret.
T.S. Padmanabhan,
* * * Sir, The secular forces accuse the BJP of being a communal party. The BSP leader, Mayawati, openly proclaims that she is a champion of Dalits. Similarly, Ram Vilas Paswan ensures that he gets a ministerial berth, irrespective of the party in power, in the name of the backward castes. Lalu Prasad has been doing the business of politics in the name of Yadavs and Muslims. V.P. Singh was responsible for Mandalisation. The Congress has been indulging in vote-bank politics involving the minorities. All the parties openly make appeals for votes in the name of caste and community during elections. Why single out the BJP?
D.K. Jain,
Chennai
