Letters to the Editor
Sir, I refer to the growing number of phone calls from banks offering credit cards, personal loans, housing loans, etc. I wonder how they get the names and phone numbers. What is worse, they get the cell phone numbers and contact people even when they are abroad, and the subscriber ends up paying through his nose for the incoming call. Different persons from the same bank or company call for the same purpose. At times, offers are even made for a card we already have. These calls disturb people during meetings, travel, while taking rest at home, etc. Such incursions into people's privacy should be curbed.
