ONGOLE, SEPT. 16. The District Consumer Forum here today directed Rupkumar, an advocate from Nellore, to pay a compensation of Rs. 1.64 lakhs to his client for "cheating and deficiency in service." The client, G. Krishnama Naidu, a retired teacher, took to agriculture in Atmakur village of Nellore district. He raised sunflower on 20 acres using seeds supplied by Juari agro company. As the seeds failed to germinate, he incurred a loss and approached the advocate, Rupkumar to file a complaint against the seed company in the District Consumer Forum at Nellore.
Case against advocate
The advocate took all the documents and fees from Mr. Naidu but did not file the complaint. Naidu came to know about this three years later. On a representation made by Rupkumar, the State Consumer Forum transferred the complaint to Prakasam district forum for hearing.
