CUDDAPAH, SEPT. 16. The Bharatiya Janata Party's Proddatur constituency in-charge, K. Balachandra Reddy, who was staging an indefinite hunger strike in Proddatur town demanding improvement in civic amenities, was shifted by the police to the Government hospital around Wednesday midnight. Resenting it, the BJP functionaries staged a rasta roko at Rajiv circle in Proddatur on Thursday and accused the Municipal Commissioner, Gopalakrishna Reddy, of being indifferent to the protest. The district BJP president, K.V. Ramana Reddy, accused the Commissioner of acting at the behest of the Congress leaders and warned of intensifying the agitation if the Collector, Jayesh Ranjan, did not take steps to resolve civic problems. The BJP leaders, G. Gurivi Reddy, Papi Reddy, Subbanna, Kalyan, Srinivas and other functionaries participated.
