RAE BARELI, SEPT. 16. In the wake of the recent controversy over the figures of the growth rate of Muslims in the 2001 census, the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi, said today that the Government would find out if there was any "goof-up" in the release of the figures. "The Centre will look into the census report and [an] inquiry would be held if any discrepancy is found," she said when asked whether the Centre would enquire into the "goof-up" in the release of the census figures. Asked whether her party would consider withdrawing support to the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government in Uttar Pradesh in view of the resentment prevailing among Congressmen in the State, Ms. Gandhi said that "there is no such proposal (aise koi bat nahin hai)." Would she consider inducting more Ministers from Uttar Pradesh in the Union Cabinet in view of the small representation from the State? She said that there was no such plan. PTI
