THIUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 16. THE City Police today arrested two youth wanted in connection with a series of chain snatching incidents reported from the Pongumoodu and Sreekaryam areas under the Medical College police station limits. A team led by the Medical College Crime SI nabbed Kannan (17) and Kiran Raj (16) from Kumarapuram. The police said the duo were part of a five-member gang who used to go around in a Qualis four-wheeler.
According to them, the modus operandi of the gang was to zero in on a victim and stop the vehicle to ask directions. They would then snatch a chain from the neck of the victim and make a quick get away.
Woman killed
A 50-year-old woman was killed after being knocked down by a private bus in front of the city bus garage at East Fort this morning. Traffic Police said Laila Beevi, a native of Aanad, was run over by the bus.
