NEW DELHI, SEPT. 16. Unscrupulous workers at Indira Gandhi International Airport here involved in pilferage of goods seem to be getting more and more innovative by the day. One of them was caught by alert Central Industrial Security Force personnel while he was trying to smuggle out a sari and a jacket, both of which he had tied round his legs. It was at about 11 a.m. on Wednesday that the casual worker, Gopal Bahadur, employed by the Customs at the International Cargo Terminal was spotted by CISF personnel in the parking area near the export In-Gate with somewhat "swollen legs''. When the man was stopped and searched, he was found to have tied a jacket on one leg and a sari on another. He had worn his trousers to conceal them. While the idea was ingenious, his unusual gait gave him away. The accused was subsequently handed over to the IGI Airport police station for further action. In another incident, an Airports Authority of India employee was caught by CISF personnel while he was carrying out of the premises 24 packets of juice, chocolate and toffees allegedly obtained from an Indian Airlines staff member in the Apron area on September 14. The accused, Umrao Singh, was caught near the Domestic Terminal at around 6-45 p.m. He was carrying a black bag which contained the wrongfully procured items.
