IT Department proceedings against approver in fodder scam cases stayed
By Our Legal Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
SEPT. 17.
The Supreme Court today stayed the proceedings initiated by the Income Tax Department against an approver in the Rs. 900-crore fodder scam cases, in which the Railway Minister and RJD leader, Lalu Prasad Yadav, is an accused.
A Bench of Justice S.N. Variava and Justice A.K. Mathur was ruling on the petition of Deepesh Chandak, alleging that the Income Tax Department resumed the proceedings against him immediately after the UPA Government took charge.
The Bench said that if the approver made a full and final disclosure in the fodder scam cases, then he would be entitled to make an application for quashing of proceedings in the income case.
