MANGALORE, SEPT. 17. Leaders of the Dakshina Kannada unit of the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) on Wednesday staged a dharna in front of the regional office of Karnataka Bank Ltd., Kodialbail, here seeking early completion of wage revision, according to a press release from P.R. Karanth, secretary, Karnataka Pradesh Bank Employees' Federation, here on Thursday. Later at a demonstration in front of the bank, nearly 800 local leaders and employees participated. Mr. Karanth, T.R. Bhat of the All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC), Leo Rodrigues of National Confederation for Bank Employees' (NCBE) and K. Ravindra Aithal of the All India Bank Officers' Association (AIBOA) addressed the gathering. The release said the dharna and the demonstration were held as a precursor to the two-day strike to be observed by more than 8.5 lakh ban employees next month in the country.
