CHENNAI, SEPT. 17. Inauguration of a fourth line between Pattabiram and Tiruvallur by the Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad, on Saturday will go a long way in upgrading the passenger transportation in the Chennai Central-Arakkonam suburban corridor. The line was a long-felt need of the commuters of the Chennai-Arakkonam section, which will cater for growing demands of the suburban traffic and increasing number of mail/express trains on the section. With this new line, there will be two dedicated lines for the suburban traffic from Chennai Central to Tiruvallur. Significantly, the fourth line runs alongside the prestigious golden quadrilateral--the high-density network that connects Delhi, Kolkatta, Mumbai and Chennai. Work for laying a third line from Tiruvallur to Arakkonam would begin soon.
