Cyclist rescued from accident site, dies

SALEM, SEPT. 17. Traffic near Five Roads junction in the city was paralysed for two hours today following the rescue operation undertaken by a team of Police and Fire service personnel who struggled to free a 48-year-old cyclist who got trapped under two lorries, which got involved in an accident.

The police said the lorries, which collided head-on near the junction lost control and dashed against the cyclist, Sadasivam of Kondalampatti, who got trapped under the mangled bodies of the lorries.

After a two-hour struggle Sadasivam was rescued alive. However, he died later at the Salem Government Medical hospital.
