BELGAUM, SEPT. 19. Belgaum: Tareekh Ke Aayine Mein, a book in Urdu authored by Ayeen Samad Khanapuri highlighting the role of Muslims in the socio-economic progress of the district, was released at a function here on Friday by M. Ishaque Jamkhanewala, president, Anjuman-I-Islam, Mumbai. Ramesh L. Kudachi, MLA, was present. The book documents the contribution of Muslims to the development of the district. Dr. Jamkhanewala listed out certain "omissions" in the book even as he appreciated the laborious work of the author. He said the book was an important document for the Muslim community of the district. Shaik Ahmed acknowledged the hard work by the author in bringing out the book. He remembered that similar works had been brought out by two authors on the role of Muslims in the socio-economic progress of the district and also their contribution to the freedom struggle in Malegaon and Sholapur. Urdu Ghar Mr. Kudachi acceded to a demand to take steps to provide land for constructing an "Urdu Ghar" in the city. The book release was followed by an "All-India Mushaira" with Ameer Bharati, Fida Hussain Zia, Yasin Rahi, Mushtaqali Gohar, Mehboob Jaan, Nadeem Siddiqui, Tahir Hussain Tahir, Arzoo Bagewadi, Ayyub Rashid, and Jawed Rafai participating in the event.
