Thundershowers likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI, SEPT. 19. Rainfall occurred at many places over Lakshadweep and at a few places over Kerala, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, south interior Karnataka and Telangana and mainly dry weather prevailed over coastal and north interior Karnataka.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in cms are: Tuni 6, Valparai, Nilkottai (Dindigul dt.) and Manjalar Dam (Theni dt.) 5 each, Nandigama 4 each, Nizvid (Krishna dt.) 3, Dharmapuri, Valapady (Salem dt.), Perambalur, Manaparai (Thiruchirapalli dt.), Periyakulam (Theni dt.), Dindigul, Punalur, Mancherial (Adilabad dt.) and Ongole 2 each and Hosur (Krishna dt.), Vaniyambadi (Vellore dt.), Periyar Dam (Theni dt.), Cherthala (Alapuzha dt.), Kollam, Prakasam Barriage (Krishna dt.), and Ananthapur 1 each.

FORECAST (valid until Tuesday morning): Rain on thundershowers are likely to occur at many places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and at a few places over Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, north coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Rayalaseema.

FARMERS WEATHER BULLETIN FOR TAMIL NADU AND PONDICHERRY (Forecast valid until Tuesday morning): Light to moderate rain is likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.

OUTLOOK FOR SUBSEQUENT TWO DAYS: No significant change.

SQUALL REPORT: A squall from West southwesterly direction with maximum wind speed reaching 68 KMPH (37 knots) lasting for 1 minute passed over Thiruchirapalli Airport at 2125 hours IST on 18-9-2004.
