Sarada birth anniversary observed

THRISSUR, SEPT. 19. Various programmes were held here on Sunday to observe the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Sarada Devi.

Lectures by Lakshmi Kumari and Sulochana Nair, and a bhajan concert by P. Ajitha were held.

Speaking at the inaugural function, held at Puranattukara here on Saturday, the president of the Sri Sarada Math and the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission, Pravrajika Shradhaprana Mata, pointed out that social service was the supreme means to reach God.

``When you serve man, you serve God,'' the Mata said.

Among the others who spoke on the occasion were the vice-president of Sri Sarada Math, Pravrajika Bhaktiprana Mata, the president of the Thrissur Math, Pravrajika Medhaprana Mata, Swami Mridananda, and the Speaker, Therambil Ramakrishnan.

The head of the Sydney unit of Sri Sarada Math, Pravrajika Ajayaprana Mata, told reporters that a seminar on `Women and spirituality' was held in Australia, as part of the observance of the 150th birth anniversary of Sri Sarada Devi.
