Plea to conduct test
By Our Legal Correspondent
NEW DELHI,
SEPT. 19.
The All-India Medical and Engineering Colleges Association has sought permission from the Supreme Court to conduct an All-India Common Entrance Test (AICET) for filling more than five-lakh vacant seats under the `management quota' in medicine, engineering and other professional courses for 2004-05.
A bench comprising Justice Y.K. Sabharwal and Justice D.M. Dharmadhikari adjourned the hearing on Friday following a plea made by senior counsel for the petitioner, Mukul Rohatgi, that the issue be referred to a larger bench since the interpretation of the judgments in the T.M.A. Pai Foundation and the Islamic Academy Education cases were involved.
