By Our Staff Reporter
CUDDAPAH, SEPT. 19. Thirty-five of the 30 men and seven women who are undergoing a two-month training in hospitality under the hotel management course were promised recruitment by star hotels, said the Project Director of DRDA, R. Venugopala Rao, on Sunday. The selected trainees would have industrial training and would be paid a stipend of Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 2,000 besides food and accommodation, he said.
Tie-up with LABS
The Velugu Department and Livelihood Advancement Business School (LABS), a subsidiary of Dr. Reddy Foundation, launched training programmes in hospitality and Information Technology Extension Service (ITES) two months ago for unemployed rural youth, he said. Under the programme started at Hahnemann College in Proddatur on July 15, it was planned to train 150 youth, paying each Rs. 2,100. Later, it was decided that only Rs. 280 would be paid towards bus pass charges, so that only the genuinely interested ones would join. Seventy-six candidates turned up, including 39 for ITES and 37 for hospitality training, he said. The Velugu Additional Project Director, B. Anil Kumar Reddy, said it was targeted to train 300 jobless youth under LABS, at the rate of 150 each in Cuddapah and Proddatur.
