THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, SEPT. 19. The Kochi-based Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (CMFRI), the Mysore-based Central Fisheries Technology and Research Institute (CFTRI) and the Aquatic Biology Department of the University of Kerala will study the stench from the sea that had resulted in the hospitalisation of 228 persons in Thiruvananthapuram district. The decision to ask the experts of the three research establishments to carry out the study was taken at a meeting of senior officials convened by the Health Minister, K.K. Ramachandran, here today. The Health Secretary, E.K. Bharat Bhushan, the Director of Health Services, Mahilamani, M.A. Wahid, MLA, and other senior officials. The meeting was informed that the situation had been brought under control and that out of the 228 persons hospitalised with nausea and breathlessness, 131 had been discharged. The Health Minister, later, visited the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital and the SAT Hospital to enquire the well-being of persons still under treatment for nausea and breathlessness.
