Government changing track: Varavara Rao

By Our Staff Reporter

KADAVENDI (WARANGAL DT.), SEPT. 20. Revolutionary poet and People's War ideologue, Varavara Rao, has accused the State Government of conspiring to scuttle the ongoing peace talks with revolutionary parties by raising the seventh clause.

"Congress had promised to hold unconditional talks. Now it has changed its track owing to pressure from the police. Is the Congress not aware that naxals are armed?" he asked.

Expecting a call

Mr. Rao was addressing a public meeting at Kadavendi village in Devaruppala mandal here on Sunday. Despite hurdles being created by the police who were resorting to covert operations and objections from the State Government, the PW and Janashakthi were hopeful of a positive response from the Government, he said. The parties were expecting that they would be invited for the second phase of talks scheduled from October 2.

PW committed

He said the PW was committed to maintaining ceasefire while the police were encouraging covert operations and trying to create obstacles. "People want peace, rights on land and self-reliance.

It is the wish of the people and the revolutionary parties agreed to talk to the Government. Revolutionary parties never said they will leave arms," he said.
