Four persons stabbed during procession

MANGALORE, SEPT. 19. Four persons were injured in violence during a Ganesha immersion procession at Kotta Chowki in the city on Saturday night.

The police gave their names as Jaya (33), Munna (35), Lokesh (28), and Sunil (35). They reportedly tried to intervene in a quarrel between two persons when they were stabbed. They were shifted to a hospital.

Killed

Two persons were killed in separate accidents in the district in the past two days.

Madhava aged about 25 was killed when a vehicle hit him at tollgate on National Highway no. 48 at about 5 a.m. on Sunday. The deceased, a native of Narikombu, was working as a fee collector at a bridge. A Mangalore-bound vehicle allegedly hit him and the driver fled from the spot after the accident. The Bantwal Town Police have registered a case.

In another incident, Purushottam Das (30) was killed when a lorry hit him at Adyar on National Highway No. 48 at about 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Body found

The body of Kusappa Poojary (48) was found near Kodimbala Bhajana Mandir at Kadaba on Saturday night.

It is said that Kusappa Poojary quarrelled with another person at the same place. Both of them reportedly attacked each other. Police have arrested Muthhuraj in this connection.
