MULKY, SEPT. 19. Yakshagana is one of the few folk arts that effectively use language, Shimanthoor Narayana Hegde, critic and scholar, has said. Speaking after felicitating Raghava Nambiar, Yakshagana scholar and writer, on Sunday on being conferred a doctorate by Mangalore University in Yakshagana, Mr. Hegde said Yakshagana was a confluence of language, performing art, and music. He congratulated Mr. Nambiar on getting the doctorate and thanked the university for giving Yakshagana the honour it deserved. Replying to the felicitation, Mr. Nambiar said Yakshagana had the power of fulfilling academic aspirations of scholars. Mr. Nambiar was also given the Kubevooru Puttanna Shetty Award on the occasion.
